MBR's microAmes Screen

MBR’s microAmes screen is fully predictive for the GLP regulatory Ames Test (Salmonella/E. coli Mammalian Microsome Reverse Mutation Assay).  By using the regulatory required ICH Salmonella and E. coli tester strains, MBR’s screen essentially predicts the full Ames – an industry first.  Other companies use Ames tester strains that have been genetically modified, run their genotoxicity screens without a mammalian microsome activation system, or employ only two tester strains (TA98 and TA100) using either a liquid-based format or much larger quantities of test compound.  Our screen employs all five ICH-compliant Salmonella/E. coli tester strains with or without a mammalian activation system, uses the same agar format, and measures the same endpoints (colony formation, cytotoxicity, and compound precipitation) as in the regulatory assay.  The microAmes screen thus provides the industry’s most robust and accurate screen for Ames mutagencity, the gold standard in genotoxicity evaluations.

By choosing MBR’s microAmes screen, you can achieve the “aims” of an Ames test early in drug discovery without the material, cost, and time investment.

MBR’s microAmes screen:
  • Fully predictive for GLP regulatory Ames Test
  • Only approximately 5-10 mg required
  • Turnaround in 2 weeks or less from compound receipt (with 1-2 week notice)
  • Cost-effective and competitive pricing
  • Expert actionable advice based on MBR personnel having 10+ years in applying microAmes screening format to drug discovery project

The responses of a battery of compounds using MBR’s microAmes screen and the Ames test are identical, indicating that MBR’s microAmes is fully predictive of the Ames test.
